Engie are recruiting for an Area Technical Supervisor to be based in Newcastle and Gateshead Schools Contract NE11 9NX. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri 9.00-17.00). On offer is a salary of £28,0000 - £30,000 (depending on ability) per annum business use only company vehicle.
The role holder will report to Area Technical Services Manager and will ensure that repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, associated systems, plant and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures are being carried out.
•Undertake site visits, utilising company pool vehicle where appropriate.
•Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory Company guidelines.
•Have a working knowledge of the operational procedures and safe working practices of major items of plant and systems, such as:
•LTHW boilers and associated systems 
•Heating and domestic water services
•Ventilation plant and associated systems
•Low voltage electrical distribution system and switchgear
•Fire alarm systems and emergency lighting
•Water Systems - L8 
•Maintain records as appropriate. 
•Responsible for the day to day scheduling of work including the organisation, planning and deployment of both direct labour and sub-contracted labour to meet the requirements of the Site PPM’s.
•Liaise directly with contractors to obtain quotes, put together programmes of works and obtain relevant H&S information (Risk Assessments/Method Statements/Training records). 
•Ensure maintenance reports are received, filed and any remedial works completed. 
•Oversee installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works. These will be carried out as a result of required building variations to the contract.
•To review CAFM (Maximo) system and make sure jobs are closed out in a timely manner.
•Assist on the Variation Order process; this will entail use of IT to write scopes of work to include pricing breakdowns of materials/labour, obtain quotes from contractors and supervise works.
•Undertaking a supervisory role of contractors working on sites ensuring all H&S procedures are adhered to.
•If required respond in a safe manner to the effects of bad weather, e.g. snow clearing, gritting, flooding, high winds, etc.
•Undertake training to maintain and develop the requirements of the service (e.g. H&S, technical) which may involve travel.
•Collaborate and co-operate with the partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focussed service.
•Act as Competent/ Authorised Person/ Duty Holder as directed and appointed.  For disciplines including (but not limited to) Water Hygiene, Buried Services, Hot Works, LV Electrical, Gas, Lifts. Liaise and undertake duties at other Healthcare & Education projects as directed.

•Knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems. 
•A good understanding of safety procedures, personnel management and equal employment practices. 
•An effective communicator who must be able to work well under pressure. 
•The individual will need to be very organized in coordinating their time and maintaining statutory records. 
•A broad understanding of both Soft and Hard Services is essential as well as a pro-active can-do attitude and flexible approach to managing work load. 
•Previously undertaken multi-skilled work within a maintenance environment.  
•Previously worked within an education maintenance environment.  
•Supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.  
•Proactive approach to problem solving.
•Capable of working with minimum supervision.
•Work as a team player and pass on knowledge to others.
•Flexible and willing.
•Prepared to work out of hours as necessary.
•Prepared to travel to other sites within the Company.
•Possess a current valid driving licence.
•Required to wear company uniform and safety footwear while carrying out all duties.
•Have a clean DBS check
Qualifications:
•NC/HNC Building Services
•17th Edition IEE Regulations.
•City and Guilds 2391 or 2349 & 2395 – Inspection and Testing.
