Purpose

This person works independently and is responsible for remote and on-site field service activities associated with the diagnosis, repair, installation and commissioning of commercial building management and related systems.

Essential Job Functions

·  Perform service and construction work on various building automation, security, and complex electric/electronic control systems as follows:
·  Control system installation
·  Troubleshooting & repair
·  Commissioning / Re-commissioning
·  Preventive Maintenance
·  Control strategies to improve efficiency of systems and equipment
·  Basic control system engineering skills
·  System Programming
·  Performs administrative functions
·  Client communications
·  Management of installation subcontractors
·  Scheduling and execution of project schedule
·  Other tasks as assigned by Manager.

Requirements

·  Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot Direct Digital Control Systems and components using PC- based tools and applications
·  Ability to perform low voltage electrical testing, troubleshooting and repair, using electrical meters and basic hand tools
·  Ability to perform calibration of Building Management System Input/Output components
·  Ability to read and interpret Mechanical, Electrical and Control System design documentation and Sequence of Operations
·  In-Depth knowledge of Building Automation Control and related systems [Architecture, User Interface, Programming, Troubleshooting]. Specific knowledge of one or more of the following is desirable:
·  Alerton Envision for BACTAlk a/o Ibex
·  Siemens-Talon
·  Tridium-Niagara based solutions
·  In-Depth knowledge of the control and monitoring practices for HVAC and electrical systems used in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
·  Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and IT systems commonly found in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
·  Working knowledge of energy conservation measures and control strategies is desirable
·  Effective verbal & written communication including; job schedules, status, requirements and financial performance
·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Essential Physical Abilities

Required:

·  Primarily working while standing or sitting for extended periods in commercial facilities using hands to perform mechanical tasks or working from a ladder on equipment located in a ceiling space (10-12 ft. heights)
·  Ability to walk up and down stairs, ladders, etc.
·  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
·  Good hand-eye coordination, visual and auditory acuity
·  Some aspects of the work will also require working on a PC for extended periods of time Education/Experience

Required:

·  2 year degree or technical certification or equivalent relevant experience is required
·  Minimum Five (5) years relevant experience as a controls technician in a service environment Preferred:

·  4 year degree in an engineering field of study preferred
·  Control system training / certification sponsored by a system manufacturer or trade association preferred
·  Energy Management and or Re-commissioning training/certifications desirable
·  Installation & Construction experience is desirable.

Working Environment

·  This position is based out of our Atlanta, GA office, but nationwide overnight travel of 80% or greater is required.
·  Primarily independent work (without direct supervision) at a customer facility or a construction site.
