Translation Intern, London, UK
EMERGENCY has been providing free, high-quality care to the victims of war, poverty, and
landmines for over 24 years. In that time, we have treated over 9 million patients, built
and operated hospitals in 18 countries, and have trained hundreds of medical and non-medical staff.
Who are we looking for and what will you do?
We are looking for a translation and editorial intern.
Reporting to the Communications Officer, your role will mostly involve translating and
proofreading documents, press releases and short pieces for social media from Italian
into English.
This role will provide valuable experience in many aspects of translation & editorial work.
You’ll play a key role in our close-knit team, and work with us to spread the message
about EMERGENCY’s work across the UK.
Flexibility and an ability to multitask are essential.
Essential Requirements:
• Native speaker level of English
• Graduate or student of English, Modern Languages, Translation Studies or other relevant disciplines
• Excellent degree of literacy; excellent written communication skills
• An interest in translation and languages
• Close attention to detail
Desirable Requirements:
• Interest in humanitarian work
• A good understanding of Italian
The internship is unpaid but lunch and reasonable travel expenses will be refunded.
Ideally, we would like you to volunteer with us for at least 2 days a week, but we can be
flexible with this for the right candidate.
The EMERGENCY UK offices are based in London. The candidate can either work from the office or remotely.
The internship lasts for 3 months, starting in December 2018.
We cannot sponsor visas, so only applicants who have eligibility to work in the UK will be
considered for the above post.
