Application Laboratory Engineer - Clothes Washer & Dryer

Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

To develop and optimize residential clothes washer & dryer cycles with respect to consumer insight, international standards, and expectations of consumer test institutes. Ensure product performance in accordance to product specification targets.  Mechanical performance verification in terms of: noise, vibration, stability, customer misuse/abuse. 

OBJECTIVES

·  Develop washer & dryer cycle routines and features through software code
·  Develop product functionalities related to washing & drying technologies, textiles, mechanics, vibrations, & noise
·  Apply statistical tools such as Design of Experiment methodology to optimize development activities;
·  Develop improvement and innovation proposals;
·  Ensure compliance with North America and International standards and legislations;
·  Complete data analysis and present findings to Fabric Care R&D team which includes Product Architecture Governance Centre (PAGC), Regional product Development (RPD), & GTD.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Development of product functionalities and pre-compliance testing of performances;
·  Management and approval of the performance tests and preparation of test reports.

Desired profile

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·  Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemistry engineering degree or relevant experience
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing software for consumer products

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES PREFFERED

·  Knowledge of laboratory equipment, data acquisitions system, programming, testing procedures and evaluation of results
·  Familiarity with C++
·  Understanding of thermodynamics and hydraulics
·  Knowledge of textile properties
·  General knowledge of appliance standards and regulation
·  Understanding of consumer magazine test procedures
·  Consumer insight on drying and washing functionality
·  Practical problem solving skills
·  Team oriented
·  Good communication skills
·  Creative & proactive
