DATA SCIENTIST H/F

Job description

Context :
EDF Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of EDF Group, is in the process of creating a digital culture which promotes growth and efficiency for our business. Based between London and Brighton, EDF Energy R&D UK Centre assists EDF Energy in the investigation and deployment of innovative digital technologies. By leveraging the strength of the UK's digital industry, the UK Centre aims to eventually share effective digital practices with the rest of the group.
The objective of the VIE is to contribute to existing and new data science and digital projects, in collaboration with Customer and Power Generation business units. This would include, for example, working on connected home projects and analysing smart meter data, in order to better understand residential customer habits and energy consumption to automate bespoke energy efficiency advices.
Function :
You will work on the following topics:
- Developing statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
- Data preprocessing and cleansing
- Development on GPU or distributed environments
- Creation of internal and customer-facing dashboards
- Designing bespoke data storage and analytics environments for cloud and on premise environments
- Innovation and technology monitoring, looking for applications of recent research
The person appointed should be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills along with a great level of English.
Required skills and experience:
- Applied machine learning experience (regression analysis, time series, supervised and unsupervised learning)
- Strong statistical and math background
- Relational database and SQL experience
- Strong data experience with either Python or R
- Experience with distributed computing (Spark/Hadoop) and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Watson) is a plus
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau is a plus
- Building thermal modelling skills are a plus
