Business Development Intern – Home & Garden (UK)

6-month position

Start date: ASAP

Location: Richmond, London

This role will focus on communicating with our UK business sellers to drive their engagement and their growth on eBay.

Role summary

The position sits within the Business Development section of eBay’s Seller Growth division, whose primary focus is working with business sellers to help them grow on eBay, with a focus on sellers in the Home & Garden vertical.

This role is focused on operationally contributing to specific projects that have been planned to deliver the vertical strategy.  This will include identifying key sellers groups, contacting specific seller cohorts to share information or to address specific opportunities that require consultation with each seller.  Examples of this would be product category specific opportunities to work with sellers on or working with sellers on the implications of ebay policy changes.

Responsibilities

·  Providing sellers with data and insights, reviewing current performance and recommending optimisation tasks
·  Analysing seller performance data and making recommendations to Seller Growth team, based on insights
·  Initiating contact with multiple sellers and structuring development plans
·  Designing the format used for recording seller responses using CRM
·  Reporting and sharing results of each activity within the business, both within the Seller Growth team and the wider business
·  Collaborating with key stakeholders including the Merchandising teams to feedback insight, learnings & future opportunities
·  Attending operating meetings to share updates
·  Designing of further seller contact campaigns based on learnings
·  Occasional travel to Dublin to meet with eBay’s customer facing teams
·  Accompanying sales team to seller meetings.

The role provides the right candidate with the opportunity to communicate with a broad section of eBay’s business sellers and use their initiative & problem solving skills to help both the sellers and eBay to grow.

·  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
·  Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
·  Confident with designing analysis and drawing insights from diverse data sets
·  Self-starter able to take the initiative
·  Highly disciplined & organised
·  Able to operate smoothly in a highly dynamic context
·  Passionate team player
·  Ability to demonstrate commercial acumen
·  Demonstrable passion for Home & Garden products & ecommerce retail which should be shown in your application
·  The ideal candidate will be about to finish or have recently finished a university program
·  Experience of entrepreneurial behaviour, especially buying or selling online would be favourable
