JOB DESCRIPTION:
Within the Financial Guaranty Insurance team, the VIE will report to the Head of Credit Expertise Center Monolines.
He/she will be learning about the monoline industry, the internal modeling and analysis tools used to assess liquidity and capital adequacy of the monoline financial guaranty insurers.
Through this experience, the VIE will gain proficiency in the use of MS Excel based cash flows models measurement of the credit risk of the DCL New York branch, and competence in executing control tasks for this branch.
The VIE will be involved in a wide range of activities to support the credit risk analysis of monoline financial guarantee insurers. These activities include but are not limited to the:
- Review and synthesis of information relating to transactions, agreements, and events that impact monolines’ insured portfolios
- Normalization and consolidation of monoline specific insured portfolio data including insured exposures, ratings, net par outstanding amortization, and underlying debt service schedules
- Quarterly update of cash flow models under base and multiple stress case scenarios
- Aggregation of model results and preparation of exhibits for quarterly management reporting
- Preparation of ad hoc analysis and reports
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and past experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics
One or two years of experience are preferred but not required.
Skills:
Strong analytical and technical skills with strong communication skills are required.
- Computer:
Advanced Excel skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.
- Statistics:
Working knowledge of statistics and visualization of data preferred.
- Interpersonal:
The candidate must be high energy, highly motivated, able to deal with rapidly shifting priorities, and must adapt easily when things do not go as planned.
The candidate must be proactive and have strong problem solving skills.
- Languages:
English: the applicant must be highly fluent and comfortable in spoken English, and competent in written English.
French: working knowledge
Availability for the 18-month program, as opposed to the 12-month program, is very strongly preferred.
