Join Danone Nutricia Research as a Scientist Plant Based Nutrition in the team Frailty & DRM adult innovation science in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Frailty & Disease Related Malnutrition (DRM) therapeutic area is complex and the market highly competitive; the product portfolio addresses general malnutrition with a broad product range and different patient needs with specialty products. Nutritional solutions based on plant-based ingredients are growing, also in the medical nutrition area. Therefore, we like to strengthen our scientific understanding in this specific area.

The Nutricia Research Frailty & DRM adult innovation science team (part of the Health & Science Department in Specialized Nutrition) works in close connection with other functions at R&I (e.g. Life Science, Clinical Studies, User Experience and Product Technology) as well as with commercial functions (e.g. Marketing and Medical Affairs) to ensure scientific substantiation for new product innovations, product renovations and to deliver and build the evidence pipeline.

About the Job:
Your mission:
You will be responsible to promote and co-build a science and nutrition-based plant-based portfolio that addresses the needs of DRM patients and to substantiate the health benefits of plant-based products by:

·  activating existing science
·  designing new plant-based product compositions taking into account the specific nutritional needs of patients
·  translating market insights into therapeutic strategies
·  in partnership with Medical Affairs, you will be responsible for building aligned scientific communication, leveraging science

Key responsibilities:

·  Provide scientific and nutritional expertise in innovation projects, addressing specific health benefits of plants and write supporting scientific rationales
·  Translate existing (generic) knowledge on health properties of plants into new product innovation opportunities for Disease Related Malnutrition
·  Drive the generation of new evidence for innovation and Intellectual property (IP)
·  Contribute to leverage evidence to commercial functions by presenting and writing in an effective way

About You:
We are looking for an experienced scientist with

·  An academic degree in nutrition or in a biomedical background
·  A PhD degree or relevant work experience in plant-based nutrition
·  Work experience in a commercial or medical/therapeutic setting, with ability to translate science for non-scientific audiences
·  Knowledge in DRM or the health properties of plants (preference)
·  Good communication skills (English) to interact with internal and external stakeholders and build a network within R&I and cross-functional teams in Specialized Nutrition organization
·  Excellent presentation and writing skills to be able to engage non-scientific partners around science topics

·  Flexible and able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment with competing and changing priorities
·  Focused and pragmatic, but also precise; can work autonomously and in teams
