JOB SUMMARY
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of milk throughout the plant. This position works closely with the manufacturing, milk processing, procurement and demand planning teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels at all times. The ability to prioritize and be decisive is imperative for this position. Must be able to handle a diverse range of duties with limited supervision as well as demonstrate initiative and independent judgement. The ability to execute processes cross functionally, as well as in all systems is a key function in this role.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

·  Oversee the short term plan for incoming raw milk and liquid sugar; ensure the plan is efficient and meets the supply requirement of the production plan.
·  Continuously review long term milk forecast to ensure the short term needs for butterfat and protien are met.
·  Coordinate the cream loads outs for the short term production schedule with Processing and the haulers as it relates to the short term needs of the plant.
·  Coordinate the short term whey disposal and work directly with the remover to ensure processing continuity and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
·  Develop strategies for continuous improvement and integrity of production planning and deployment processes utilizing SAP to its fullest capability.
·  Manages and tracks losses, problem solves to reduce future losses, and provides updates on status to the leadership team.
·  Release all milk orders and create milk batches for WMS to consume.
·  Verifies paperwork and documentation from Processing and Quality departments.
·  Backs up and assists the Production Scheduler.
·  Communicates issues and changes to the Key Users and Shift Managers.
·  Performs daily reconciliation between Process and Package orders.
·  Assists the Processing Leadership in gathering scheduling information required for daily meetings.
·  Participates in meetings to communicate current status and issues, run orders, and discrepancies.
·  Works with Processing to deliver the most efficient schedule for batches (size and quantity optimized, base age reduced, condensed used as soon as possible and optimize all areas of SQCDMN).
·  Validate accuracy between line schedule and white mass needs.
·  Works with Information Services to ensure there are effective business system solutions (SAP-APO) to meet or exceed user requirements.
·  Responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality as defined in plant and department procedures.
·  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·  The ideal candidate will have/be:
·  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
·  Prior experience in Production Planning within a manufacturing environment desirable.
·  SAP/SCM experience preferred.
·  The ability to maintain excellent relationships and communicate with multiple levels within the organization.
·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Stron MS Excel usage ability required.
·  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·  The ability to work independently.
·  Must be thorough and detail oriented.
·  The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
·  The ability to operate in a team environment.
·  The ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
