2020 Summer Processing & Packaging Internship: West Jordan, Utah

Mission:

Support Processing and Packaging management of the facility through supervision of daily production and processing activities including production schedule changes, losses, new process implementation, operator training, interdepartmental workflow communication. Working with shift employees to ensure compliance to all SOP’s, QAR’s, Plant Rules and Standards.

Responsibilities:

·  Provide leadership, direction, and development for operators through short interval management by walking the shop floor
·  Ownership of assigned area on the shop floor – Drive improvements and efficiencies in assigned area
·  Work with counterparts, manager, and operators to drive improvements
·  Changeover and CIP process improvement
·  Conduct time studies, and execute Operational Efficiency improvement for packaging lines
·  Lead a team of machine operators and mechanics
·  Develop root cause analysis using 5-Why, Fishbone diagram, etc. to re-align operational performance with goals and objectives
·  Lead and Participate in continuous improvement efforts
·  Creation of SOPs for new processes and procedures

Report Various Plant Results:

·  Daily analysis of line performance
·  Report top downtime for production lines
·  Review weekly production and processing losses

·  Ability to operate in a team environment and adapt in a changing work environment
·  Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a proven ability to handle multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
·  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization at all levels, including janitorial, management, and executives
·  Ability to follow direction and work independently
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·  Strong math, computer and logic skills
·  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
·  Excellent organization skills
