Position Summary:

The Packaging Department Supervisor is responsible for shift ownership for the Packaging Department, and reports directly to a Production Cell Owner. He/she will be accountable for delivering the performance (SQCDMN) and maintaining a high level of standard - ie GMP's, safety and food safety, SOP's and work instructions, payroll, discipline, strategy. With a direct reporting team of 12-15 operators, operational support of the technical and quality resources, and functional support from Flow, Optimization and HR departments, the Packaging Supervisor is required to:

·  Implement and maintain an effective Short Interval Management System (SIM); analyzing the performance of the lines and prioritizing short and long term actions to ensure performance results
·  Provide leadership to the team and ensure development of competence and skills
·  Ensure execution of the production schedule and lead cross functional alignment with Flow/Processing departments
·  Establish short/mid-term priorities for the team based on the strategic direction of the department
·  Ensure proper escalation of breakdowns/issues during the shift
·  Complete a shift report documenting major downtimes and requesting action from support functions
·  Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives through the 'DaMaWay' methodologies (problem solving, autonomous management, etc)
·  Deliver results in SQCDMN through line ownership
·  Help operators to develop / improve SOP's
·  Assist in determining the necessity for repair and/or replacement of equipment and/or components
·  Partner with the technical and/or engineering teams to support all capital projects within areas
·  As a member of the Operations Team the Packaging Supervisor is also expected to share floor coverage (vacation coverage, weekends and holidays) with colleagues.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following: 

·  Bachelor Degree (Prefer BS Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial Engineer, Operations Management) with a minimum of 3 years business/related experience (preferred).
·  The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced environment.
·  Demonstrated planning, communication and supervisory skills.
·  Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
·  Previous leadership experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment.
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·  Resourcefulness and decision-making ability.
·  Must have the ability to work under pressure and potentially stressful conditions.
·  Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives.
·  Must be self-motivated and a self-starter
·  Must have the leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with all levels of plant personnel and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.
·  Working knowledge of break down analysis/root cause analysis tools with preventative and predictive concepts
·  The ability to serve as a change agent who is able to 'make it happen' while building positive relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
·  Energy, resilience, determination, enthusiasm and strong analytical skills to challenge the status quo.
·  The ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and quickly resolve complicated problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
·  The ability to maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
·  The willingness to work flexible schedules as needed to support 7-day per week, 24-hour per day production facilities. Work schedules could include occasional off-shift or weekend work.
·  Strong communication/collaboration skills.

·  Dairy Experience (Food and Beverage)
·  Experience implementing and leading within a lean based environment
·  Leadership within a union environment
·  Experience in an ISO 22000 environment
