CONTEXT

Under the responsibility of the Danone Chief Food Safety Officer (CFSO), the Department Food Safety@Danone (FS@D) has the mission TO ENSURE THAT DANONE CREATES, MANUFACTURES AND DELIVERS ITS PRODUCTS EVERYDAY WITH NO COMPROMISE ON FOOD SAFETY BY STRICTLY FOLLOWING THE DANONE COMPLIANCE POLICY AND ANTICIPATING EMERGING RISKS.

 

As a part of Food Safety@Danone, theDanone Food Safety Center (DFSC) will identify and assess food safety risks through carefully screening of scientific and regulatory environment and will support business and R&I to ANTICIPATE, PREVENT and MANAGE safety and regulatory risks reinforcing Danone reputation as a key actor in Food Safety.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

  Main Missions

·  To conduct and review toxicological risk assessment on various chemicals (e.g. from raw and packaging materials) in support of new products developments (safe by design) and crises/incidents for the Danone product portfolio 
·  As part of company’s Horizon Scanning activity, lead the tracking of emerging science on new food safety risks, new toxicological risk assessment methodologies and food safety issues relevant to the Danone portfolio  
·  Develop and drive risk communication in the context of food safety risk management activities and continuous improvement of Danone Quality and Food Safety Management System
·  Investigate and implement new risk assessment methodologies in the context of business support
·  To be able to identify and engage when required with scientific experts, external scientific organizations and trade associations in order to support Danone’s food safety strategic objectives
·  Drive and manage cross-functional projects related to the area’s food safety risk assessment and management

 

Main Responsibilities

·  To actively lead the screening of the scientific & regulatory environment for potential emerging scientific topics and risks related to raw and packaging materials and Danone products
·  To capitalize on the collected data to enrich the knowledge, to inform the internal stakeholders and to secure safe business continuity,
·  To create or animate a strong internal business stakeholders and external network (scientific experts, scientific organization and trade associations),
·  To deliver clear and transparent toxicological risk assessments enabling robust decision-making based on updated scientific data and recognized risk assessment methodologies in all circumstances (development, incidents, crisis).
·  To create databases and tools to support food safety assessment.
·  Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of relevant and best in class food safety standards or related documents on raw and pack materials food safety as part of the Danone Quality and Food Safety Management System (i.e. guidelines, position, directives, recommendations of food safety limits, recommendations of surveillance plans …).
·  To build and animate internal food safety education and training modules related to ingredients, packaging materials and product safety
·  To assist in the creation and update of FS requirements for sourcing for Raw and Packaging Materials.

 

Travel %: routinely up to 10% of total working days.

About you

ABOUT YOU

·  Demonstrated project management skills and stakeholder (corporate & local) managementRelevant education in toxicology, food safety, biology, physiology, (bio)chemistry, pharmacology or nutritional sciences (minimum MSc with experience or PhD)
·  Board certification in Toxicology i.e., ERT (is a plus),
·  Knowledge or hands on chemical toxicological risk assessment applied in the industry context (i.e., 3-5 years of experience)
·  High level of competence in reviewing, interpreting, summarizing, and communicating on scientific literature
·  Practical knowledge on new risk assessment methodologies in relation to computational and in vitro toxicological testing
·  Knowledge on food safety regulations
·  Autonomy: ability to prioritize deliverables and apply procedures and practices with excellence
·  Strong communication skills, open to communicate and build network internally and externlly. Being able to defend strong science-based positions.
·  Autonomy and willingness to adapt within a fast-changing business environment
