Advanced Simulations and CAD Engineer

Overview

In this role you will develop and do analysis of Engineering Simulation models for new Research and Development Projects, Development of Product Testing protocols using Simulation Technology and Applications Engineering Programs.

Core Responsibilities

• Works with the appropriate internal team(s) to define the requirements and needs of the simulation project. (This may include working with vendors to define required material properties, or Customers to define application requirements and requisite input criteria.)
• Define, develop, execute and document the Simulation model, including CAD model development if necessary.
• Analyze the result of the simulation and preparation of detailed technical reports summarizing the simulation activity.
• Assist in the development of new prototype and series production tools using simulation and moldflow technology to identify and mitigate potential processing issues.
• Assist in the development of Product Design Guidelines
• Assist in the development of product family dFMEA.
• Support internal Product Development Testing activities with CAD / Simulations as required.
• Assist in Development of Materials and Components Specifications to support new programs.
• Provide support and participate in internal continuous improvement projects (e.g. Scrap and Waste Reduction Programs)

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications
• BS/MS in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years of related experience is required.
• Strong computer and mathematical skills are required.
• Experience in CAE simulations is required (specifically experience with simulations within 3D CAD packages or external packages such as ANSYS).
• Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite and MS Project.
• Strong skills in CAD are required (specifically experience with an advanced 3D modeling package such as Unigraphics, CATIA or Solidworks).
• Travel as required

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with processing simulations such as Moldflow is helpful.
• Familiarity with an ISO/TS16949 QMS and AIAG APQP Processes is desirable.
• Background in automotive industry design and manufacturing processes is helpful
