Today, our legal affairs department located near Brussels in Belgium, is looking for a candidate with good understanding of contracting, for a V.I.E. internship for a period of up to two years. In such role, you will become part of the Law Department to provide support to our legal and procurement organizations, and will be located Diegem (Brussels), Belgium.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Legal Trainee position for providing general support to the lawyers supporting J&J’s Supply Chain, Real Estate, Procurement and Technology (SCRPT) organizations. This position is a temporary position (2 years) and offered as a V.I.E. internship in Belgium (Brussels).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your legal career within a fast-paced, challenging and exciting business.

You will support the supply chain and procurement organizations, under the guidance of the SCRPT lawyers, by developing contracts and templates; and supporting regional and cross regional projects, in a broad range of technical and legal fields. Such support might include:

• Providing legal analysis of existing templates;
• Drafting of templates and contracts;
• Advising on interpretation of existing agreements;
• Advising on negotiations of agreements;
• Establishing and implementing education and training related to newly developed templates or other legal training needs;
• Interacting with other J&J lawyers in Europe
• Supporting procurement colleagues in their functional domain(s);
• Liaising with external legal advisers / outside counsel;
• Providing support on supply chain/procurement related matters; or
• Providing legal support on projects, such as acquisitions or due diligences.

Duties may evolve depending on the needs of the law department as well as on the experience and skills of the candidate.

PROFILE:

A junior lawyer with at least 2 years of legal experience, preferably as an in-house counsel or in a law firm. Your excellent knowledge of contract law is underpinned by strong communication skills and the ability to influence and work collaboratively at all levels and functions in an organization.

1. Eligibility Criteria:
. Master Degree in Law (general or jurist d’entreprise);
. Good understanding of contract law and civil code;
. Good written and oral language skills (fluent in English);
. Microsoft Office and Powerpoint technical skills
. Self starter with a practical mindset.

2. Previous professional experience:
. At least 2 years of experience as trainee or actual employee/collaborator in a private company’s legal department or in law firm supporting corporate clients;
. Experience in contract drafting;
. Ability to independently create legal clauses and letters (English);
. Ability to communicate effectively.

3. Having knowledge of the healthcare or consumer sector is a plus.

4. Knowledge of other languages than English is a plus.
