Cisco's Internet of Things software group defines and delivers premier IoT products to enable groundbreaking customer outcomes by crafting intelligent connections between people, processes, data, and things. The technical marketing team consists of highly motivated and hardworking engineers with a gift for explaining Cisco's technologies and driving product development.

What you'll do

Cisco's IoT team is seeking a Technical Marketing Engineer to drive our technical strategy and customer adoption of our Edge Compute portfolio. You will bridge the gap between our Software Developers, Hardware Developers, Product Managers, Sales teams and of course our Product Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn the Edge Compute platform (e.g. IOx on our Industrial Routers, Switches and Compute platforms), applications (e.g. EFM), and management products (FND, FD, GMM)
  • Test new technologies/releases in the lab.
  • Develop and publish demo and training collateral for our various marketing publication platforms, including: dCloud, DevNet and SalesConnect.
  • Present at trade shows and conferences such as Cisco Live!, SEVT and GSX/Cisco Impact.
  • Educate sales teams during WebEx meetings, webinars as well as at conferences and workshops.
  • Provide guidance to product management and engineering in regards to required features and their use-cases.

Who you are

  • 3+ years of design and implementation experience with: Linux Administration and Provisioning (focus on CentOS, RedHat), container and hypervisor platforms (e.g. Docker, LXC, ESXi etc.), orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, vCenter etc.), IoT protocols (RMQ, MQTT etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with Routing & Switching concepts
  • Ability to understand and solve complex technical and business challenges
  • Expertise in architecture, engineering, operations, and security discussions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to distill complex technical concepts into understandable language.
  • Domestic and International Travel required up to ~25% of the time.
