What You'll Do

You will analyze and present data to help customers understand how to segment their networks using a combination of custom developed software and the Stealthwatch enterprise product.

This role is focused primarily on the problem ofNetwork Segmentation. Applicants need to be U.S. citizens or legal residents.

The Network Segmentation Engineer is acustomer facing rolethat will require frequent interaction with customers, partners, and Cisco personnel at both a technical and non-technical level. 25% travel is required for this position.

    • NetFlow data and data from secondary sources using various methods. Most of these methods will utilize APIs or data exports in a variety of formats, including databases, flat files, structured data (ex. JSON), or through the use of documented APIs to systems that provide data via this method.
    • Occasionally write short Python 2.7 scripts
    • Generate diagrams and reports
    • Deliver presentations to customers about the results of segmentation analysis.
    • Travel up to 25% may be required, but most services are delivered remotely

Who You'll Work With

You will work alongside and among a mature, knowledgeable, creative team of Network Consulting Engineers and Software Engineers.

Who You Are

You will have a background in statistical analysis and one or more of the following: Network technologies, network administration, systems administration, network security, or systems security.

    • Demonstrated history of job-related statistical analysis using at least one of the following types of data analytics tools: SPSS, SAS, KNIME, OpenRefine, Tableau, R, Alteryx, or similar products.
    • Experience using APIs or data exports in a variety of formats, including databases, flat files, structured data (ex. JSON), or other similar methods, and to collect and subsequently analyze such data. This will require traditional ETL methodologies, data grooming, data filtering, data transformation, creating computed data from one or more values of existing data, joining data sets, and producing necessary data output for consumption in other systems.
    • Experience with Python 2.7 as a systems integration language working with small amounts of Python 2.7 code, and modifying code as necessary for installation scripts and integration functions. NOTE: This is NOT a programming position. Although Python skills are necessary, the applicant mostly needs to be able read and modify scripts as necessary, occasionally contributing small amounts of code to handle ad-hoc situations.
    • You should be very comfortable at the GUI and command-line of Windows and various flavors of Linux (at least two).
  • Any of the following skills are desirable:
  • A thorough understanding of TCP/IP switching and routing principles
  • A thorough understanding of VLANs and Security Group Tags
  • Stealthwatch
  • Stealthwatch Cloud
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine
  • SIEMs (especially Splunk, ARCSight, and QRadar)
  • Firewalls
  • Use of ACLs in switches and routers
  • Other technologies such as IDS/IPS, HIDS, vulnerability assessment, log management
