What You'll Do
As a member of this dynamic and international team, you will play an integral part in the DevOps software engineering process, working collaboratively on products and technology throughout the full product development lifecycle. Software components and microservices are designed from the ground up with testing in mind, and function according to the required specification and customer use cases including scalability, performance, interoperability and usability.
You will be required to meet tight deadlines, whilst effectively managing priorities and communicating progress. You will be responsible for delivery, performance, continuous improvement and agile software development tasks.
The successful candidate for this role can be flexible in playing developer and software engineer test roles in a Scrum team. You would be working on a complex next-generation media service as well as developing tools and microservices for the Cisco Webex Teams cloud.
Who You'll Work With
Cloud Collaboration Technology Group (CCTG) are part of a specialist centre for Cisco Collaboration Engineering located at Cisco EMEAR headquarters in Bedfont Lakes, Feltham.
You will be expected to produce and deliver significant features on your own as well as work with colleagues in collaborative tasks. You will be called upon to deliver timing estimates for implementation and assess risks involved. As part of an Agile team, creating unit test and functional automation scripts as part of feature development will be expected.
You will also be required to interact considerably with the other Webex Teams engineers based in San Jose and elsewhere in the world remotely, and on occasion through foreign travel.
Who You Are
You have earned an outstanding degree at a top university and have gained 2+ years of work experience in high-performance environments. Moreover, you have a proven track record of personal and academic achievements.
• Flexibility, dynamism, passion for technology, software and continuous learning
• The ability to apply a scientific approach to solving complex problems
• Python programming
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
• Familiarity with DevOps, continuous integration, continuous delivery
• Familiarity with multithreaded/event driven/asynchronous software
• Familiarity with virtualisation software and containers (Docker)
• Familiarity with open source tools like GStreamer and OpenCV
• Exposure to network programming (for example; TCP/IP, streaming protocols, HTTP or RTP)
• Exposure to video and audio encoding, and processing techniques and technologies
• Exposure to cryptography
