Job description

Background:

To enable effective data usage for Fashion Division, we need expertise to understand data, starting from its source to analysis and storytelling. The creation of this role of Data Steward will build a linkage between technical data knowhow and business language, strengthen the understanding on business requirements and deliver usable insights to the Fashion merchandising and retail community.  

Job Mission:

Responsible for day-to-day management and operational oversight of data management activities and decisions within the business domain by providing support to the Domain Data Owner.  Collaborates closely with the relevant T&DS teams (Retail, Supply Chain, BI/ Data & Analytics etc) to ensure quality and management of data across the application footprint where the business domain is the Data Owner.  Evangelises the understanding of data quality, data management and usage of data for business decisions across the business domain of Fashion Merchandising and Retail.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Evangelist for the business domain of Fashion Merchandising and Retail

· 
Understands the data and business process context

· 
Understand how data affects business outcomes and helps solve issues.

· 
Supports the Domain Data Owner execute their duties, making proposals and escalations as needed

· 
Translate business needs into data requirements

· 
Understand the data/ KPIs and the operational rules to be applied

· 
Understand and provide business direction on how the data should be used and where it should be sourced.

· 
Supports/ coach business peers within the business domain on how they can read and leverage data in their roles and business decision-making.

Manages and monitors day to day quality and governance of the data

· 
First responder to data quality issues in their data domain

· 
Ensures data standards are implemented locally

· 
Understand data governance and how it works in relation to wider organisational structures. Participate in them and deliver the assurance for the relevant data service.

· 
Maintains and manages access to datasets, KPIs and/ or reports/ dashboards owned by the business domain – on behalf of the Data Owner.

· 
Lists the scope of testing & its acceptance criteria for data quality management.  Guides markets or operational teams to support the data validation process.

· 
Quality Assurance, Validation and Data Linkage. Understand relevant data sources, tools and systems. Apply appropriate approaches for verifying and validating data and analysis. Guide, coach and influence senior stakeholders in determining correct data approach.

· 
Build (and/or work with T&DS to develop) data cleansing and transformation/translation routines.

· 
Maintains data glossary for datasets/ KPIs owned by the business domain.

Translates business data requirements to the Custodian (i.e. T&DS team) for system implementation

· 
Determine the most appropriate medium to visualise data to tell compelling and actionable stories relevant for business goals. Present, communicate and disseminate data appropriately and with high impact.

· 
Partners closely with the T&DS team to facilitate and conduct data related activities required to deliver to business data requirements (including validation of data, KPI and reports/ dashboards; change management/ training/ adoption of visualisation tools/ dashboards)

Translates data into insights and apply business usage

· 
Be the leading Fashion BI expert and gatekeeper of this platform in Asia, provide first level support to business users and the key contact for Global

· 
To support the ever-changing business strategy and collection offers, drive tailor-made reports and set up KPIs, to provide insight for business users and management to facilitate decision making

· 
Collaborate with Global Fashion BI team on project development and support on innovative projects, providing specific Asia business requirements and usage feedback

· 
Host training and best practice sharing workshop in the Fashion community across Asia, influence and promote usage of the tool in Asia (regional and local teams)

· 
Drive syntheses of Fashion business case related to product merchandising / product life cycle matters via BI. Provide analytics that support evaluations at different stage of merchandising cycle: OTB, Buying, Launch & MD

· 
Identify and analyze business needs cross department regionally and locally, investigate the effectiveness of rolling out BI tools and to lead the project roll out for other business teams continuously to improve efficiencies

Stakeholder Management and Communication . Supports the Domain Data Owner to manage domain stakeholder expectations and facilitate data-related decisions and discussions. Communicate on behalf of, or represent the business domain at the relevant data community discussions.

IT Savvy-ness . Knowledge and experience in data tools for governance, quality, and analysis space. Ability to use them to address business needs, generation of ideas, and establishment of best practices. Custodian of system/data requirements and bridge with T&DS BI/ Data & Analytics teams to deliver to these requirements.

Person Specifications:

Academic / Professional Qualifications 

· 
Degree holder

· 
Full understanding of Fashion Product Referential, its data source and usage; experience on handling POS data and analysis

· 
Advanced PowerBI skills. Capability on using PowerBI Import Mode is essential

· 
Good understanding of Fashion Strategy and product lifecycle

Work Experience

· 
5 years or above on Fashion business related role

· 
3 years or above hands-on experience on handing Fashion data and usage of PowerBI

· 
Experienced on using Fashion tools, including but not limited to PEPS, Fashion Catalog, Asia Tool (TM1)
