Position Description

As a Technical Architect you will also act as a Technical Design Authority providing technical assurance and control for all projects on the client engagement, ensuring integrity, availability and performance of the services provided by CGI. This role offers someone the chance to work in a fast paced environment, working with different team and systems, truly challenging environment.

The role is based in Milton Keynes, with a degree of mobility preferable as and when needed.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Technical Architect can broadly be split between two distinct areas, Project and Baseline. When performing the role as a TDA for a project it’s important to ensure the objectives are met for a single project. When performing the role of TDA for a Baseline the scope is extended to ensure that all projects contained within the baseline release co-exist together allowing the objectives to be met.

Project responsibilities typically include understanding and seeking clarification on project requirements, validating and verifying estimates before quote. You could also be required to perform impact analysis on the solution design and identify mitigations to technical risks.

Baseline responsibilities include collaborating with the Baseline Owner to ensure that the technical risks of all projects contained are tracked and mitigated as required. It is important to review individual project release instructions, collate these to form a baseline Implementation plan and walkthrough prior to customer review and approval.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The successful candidate must demonstrate good working knowledge of various software development methodologies (for example Oracle, Web services, .NET, Java, etc.), work experience gained on large scale software solutions as well as modern solution architectures for distributed software systems. Good working knowledge of relational databases is important as is good organisational and effective communication skills.

Strong stakeholder management skills are key and an ability to gain credibility quickly is important.

Any experience working in the financial services, asset finance and/or the automotive sector is strictly advantageous.
