PSMAG - Sr. Systems Architect

Position Description
Candidate will be installing and configuring applications for state and local government clients including the ongoing support of those installations and support of the teams providing steady state operations. The candidate’s primary function will be to support the implementation of new clients using the managed/hosted service model by performing installations and upgrades. Each installation or upgrade must align to the clients' unique business needs while conforming as much as possible to defined standards of operation. This position is a ""work from home"" position unless there is a need to travel for training or a meeting (possibly once or twice a year on average). This role requires an individual who has the ability to pick up new and complicated concepts quickly, has excellent problem solving skills, and also has the ability to understand complex multi-tier integrated systems. The individual must be self-motivated and have the desire and work ethic to thrive and excel in a non-traditional work environment. The organization the candidate would become a member of provides 24/7 operational support in a SLA-bound delivery model. Therefore, the candidate may be required to provide support during non-traditional business hours as required by support requirements.
Responsibilities:

1) Works with the other technical resources to plan, install, and configure enterprise applications to meet contractual obligations for application availability and minimize risk.

2) Responsible for fully documenting infrastructure and application configuration in order to provide referenceable, consistent, and stable solutions.

3) Responsible for providing 3rd level technical support for operation and functional staff, including but not limited to:

a) Complex problem resolution in which several systems/applications/servers are involved

b) SQL scripting support including complex joins and database links

c) “What If” scenarios involving proposed changes to operational or functional procedures

d) Detailed review of planned changes to existing infrastructure in order to determine the impact to hosted solutions and to minimize risk

e) Review and approve script and procedures changes to minimize risk and enforce best practices

4) Must have the ability to work flexible hours as determined by project and/or team needs.
This organization operates a high-quality delivery model and the candidate is expected to perform at “meets” or “exceeds” levels within that context for all delivery. The program currently has 20+ large clients and is rapidly growing. Candidate would report to the Engineering team lead of the Managed Advantage program.

Key Technical Skills:

•Solid knowledge and experience in both Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments, including but not limited to:

a) OS Settings Review and Verification (excluding OS installation)

b) Application Software Installation and Configuration

c) Application Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution

d) UNIX Shell Script design, writing, review, and troubleshooting

e) OS commands

• Knowledge of Oracle databases.

• Experience with JBOSS and/or WebSphere.

• Structured Query Language (SQL) Scripting experience (Oracle preferred) – Must have knowledge of relational database technology as well as query language.• Previous experience with application installation and configuration.

• CGI Advantage architecture a strong plus.

• Strong scripting/programming skills in a procedural or object oriented language (such as shell scripts, Visual Basic, Java, or Perl) with an emphasis placed on the programming skill rather than the actual language in which the programming was done.
Key Functional Skills:

• Ability to create, follow, manage to detailed technical documentation.

• Strong problem solving skills in a complex multi-tiered integrated environment with the ability to understand the inter-relationship between the various components.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Ability to work in non-conventional environment with virtual team spanning time zones across the country and in India.
