Position Description
The Insurance Branch within the Commercial Public Sector Division of CGI is seeking a seasoned .Net Architect on a full-time basis. This position will be an instrumental part of a major application migration from VB6 to .Net.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Update business logic from existing VB6 application to modern .NET WebApi application
• Advanced knowledge of technology, tools, various programming languages, processes, and procedures
• Extensive knowledge of the business, enterprise technology areas and / or the organization
• Key subject matter expert who consults with and may lead clients and/or project teams on multiple aspects of development issues
• Works as the senior or lead developer and coaches/guides team members within area of expertise
Continuously enhance knowledge / expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies, emerging trends/developments and grow knowledge of the business, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques
• Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines as assigned
• Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
• Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team
• Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers
• Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units
• Resolves highly complex and multifaceted development related problems
• Typically reports to an IT Manager or above

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Must have 5+ years experience in role of .Net Architect
- VB6 migration project experience highly preferred
- 10+ years of experience in .NET , VB.NET , ASP.NET, C#, CSS, HTML, JavaScript application programming and web development.
- 10+ years experience writing SQL, preferably for Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with legacy application transformation projects
- Experience in Agile development
- Ability to design and write code as template for team members
- Experience providing technical troubleshooting, configuration, deployment of applications and their underlying infrastructure.
- Experience Investigating development issues, resolving problems, and communicating status
- Experience managing internal scheduled development activities along with urgent, sometimes unscheduled development requests with a high level of urgency and responsiveness
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
