Job description

Position Description:

At CGI, we help clients transform how their IT services operate — driving measurable business outcomes through innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence. As a Service Management Consultant, you’ll work alongside leading organisations to design, deliver, and enhance service management capabilities that underpin critical business operations. You’ll use your practical experience and insight to shape tailored solutions that improve performance, resilience, and customer satisfaction. Supported by a community of experts who value ownership, creativity, and professional growth, you’ll have the opportunity to influence transformation programmes that make a lasting impact across industries.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named one of the ‘World’s Best Employers’ by Forbes magazine. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces. We are proud to hold a Gold Award recognising our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.

Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

This is a hybrid role and you will be required to travel to client site or CGI offices 2-3 days a week on average.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you will help clients optimise their IT Service Management capabilities across the full lifecycle — from strategy and design through to operation and continual improvement. You’ll apply your operational experience to assess, refine, and implement service management frameworks that deliver tangible business value. Working within CGI’s growing Service Advisory Practice, you’ll play a key part in shaping our client offerings, contributing to bids, and helping drive continuous improvement across our consultancy tools and methodologies.

You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, sharing best practices, supporting colleagues’ development, and championing new approaches to service excellence. This role offers the autonomy to lead engagements and the support to grow as part of a high-performing, knowledge-driven team.

Assess & Advise: Analyse client service management environments using CGI’s advisory toolkit to identify improvement opportunities.
Design & Deliver: Support process design, workflow optimisation, and performance improvement initiatives aligned to ITIL and modern frameworks.
Engage & Influence: Build trusted client relationships, contributing to proposals, presentations, and advisory engagements.
Enhance & Evolve: Support the continued development of CGI’s Service Advisory tools, frameworks, and best practices.
Collaborate & Grow: Share insights, mentor peers, and contribute to the growth of the Service Management community within CGI.
Innovate & Adapt: Embrace emerging technologies and methodologies such as automation, cloud services, and agile service management.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

You should have solid experience across the IT Service Management lifecycle, with a strong understanding of ITIL practices and a track record of improving or implementing service management processes. Consulting experience is an advantage but not essential — what matters most is your ability to communicate, influence, and apply real-world expertise to client challenges.

Strong experience in IT Service Management (ITIL V3 or ITIL4).
Proven ability to implement and improve service management processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to deliver clear written reports, case studies, and proposals.
Confident working across areas such as incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
Experience working collaboratively with clients in hybrid or agile environments.
Strong analytical mindset and practical problem-solving approach.
Desirable:
ITIL Expert or Managing Professional certification.
Experience with SIAM, ISO standards, cloud services, or automation technologies.
Experience in defence, national security, or public sector environments.
Familiarity with organisational change and transformation methods.

Skills:

·  Compliance
·  Process Management
