Your future duties and responsibilities
Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems in Cognos Business Intelligence eReports. Interprets business information needs, identifies system requirements and develops appropriate solutions. Assesses data report generation needs and frequency.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
3+ years of experience in Cognos applications for enterprise consumption.

Understanding of Relational, OLAP-type data models and how to translate from one to the other.

Framework Manager skills- ability to integrate/create dimensional models; understanding of the different layers of the model; use of determinants, joins and views.

Report Studio expertise ability to handle Master/Detail, Drilldown queries, dashboards, use of unions, intersections, etc.

Cognos Connection Administration, security, batch scheduling, services tuning, portal modification, installation and upgrade.

Ability to work with business clients to acquire and define requirements, translate into technical model and reports.

Ability to work within both SDLC and/or Agile software methodologies for delivery of services.

Review project deliverables with input from BI Architect to design an appropriate development strategy

Analyze database designs and business requirements to design Cognos models and Cognos reports of varied complexity

Coordinate technical development between projects that share a common code base

Producing required system documentation for all assignments in compliance with departmental quality assurance, audit, design and code review standards – CMMI Level 3

Participate in and contribute to technical requirements, operational support documentation, and collaborative design discussions and peer reviews across the department

Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues as a mentor, sharing technical information, knowledge, and expertise

Proactively providing timely task and project updates to peers, team leader/manager, and others, as appropriate

Soft Skills:

Very well organized and detail orientated and able to multitask effectively

Have excellent time management, task planning and prioritization skills

Able to adapt quickly to changing client requirements

Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills

Fast-paced office environment handling multiple demands. Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment as necessary

Minimum Education Required: Bachelors Degree or Technical Diploma in IT with equivalent experience.
