Application Support Analyst

Position Description
Be part of something rewarding and challenging and join CGI as an Application Support Analyst within our DCC Adapter team. The DCC Adapter is a product that simplifies the technical orchestration between an Energy Supplier's Back Office and the government Smart Metering system (DCC/DSP). The product is in use by 5 of the big 6 UK Energy suppliers as well as a few other organisations. So, currently approx. 80% of smart metering traffic will run through the DCC Adapter.

The DCC Adapter was written by and is maintained by CGI’s IP Development team that are expanding and doing more product specific work, so we are ideally looking for candidates who want to be part of a long term growing team working across multiple products/clients. You will be joining a team of 40 people consisting of developers, testers and Application Support Analysts. The Application support team is currently a team of 8, but we are looking to grow this. This is a great opportunity to work in conjunction with a team of experience developers and testers. You may at some point want to move into a development or testing career, this role will give you that exposure. This role will be based in our Solihull office, with occasional travel to other CGI sites and client sites.

Your future duties and responsibilities
As an Application Support Analyst you will be required to work along the existing strong support team to deliver application support/installation services to our clients. Responsibilities will include:
• Taking personal responsibility for resolution of support incidents in line with the SLA or OLA,
managing your own workload and supporting others.
• Managing and fulfilling Service Requests, incidents, problems and changes
• Provide detailed analysis of system defects as and when required
• Involvement in root cause analysis and problem investigating
• Promote and foster good working relationships with clients and other CGI teams
• Understand and adhere to quality and security standards and processes
• Identify and implement service improvements
• Implement technical designs that work effectively and efficiently within overall system architecture, following the project standards
• Maximise the Security, Data Integrity, availability and performance of the supported application environments, whilst identifying, communicating and/or reducing risk where possible

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The ideal candidate must have good experience of supporting a Red Hat Linux environment. Basic oracle knowledge is required and a good working knowledge of Java. Experience of working within an ITIL Environment would be advantageous, as would experience of using ITSM/Remedy.

This role is suitable for someone with a good broad range of experience. Someone who works proactively and is keen to add value to the team. We need someone who can be flexible to work out of hours occasionally for project work, and someone who is happy to travel to other CGI offices or client sites from time to time.
