Job description

Position Description:

We are currently recruiting an Application Support Analyst to support one of our largest clients.

Reporting into a Service Lead and Service Provision Manager the role will be based within the application support team and include:

Provision of second line application support;

- Client communication on a day to day basis;

- Providing solutions to application related Incidents and Problems;

- Working within SLA parameters in the provision of a high quality application support service;

- Impact Assessment in response to requests for enhancement / change;

- Responding to and acting on customer issues/requests and recognition of client priorities;

- Attendance of client meetings as necessary;

- Assisting in software deployments – some of which will require working at evenings or weekends;

- Day to day monitoring of aspects of the application.

***Essentials Skills Required***

- Experience of working in an application support and development environment;

- Understanding of support processes and experience of their implementation and usage in an application support scenario (ITIL experience)

- Effective customer relationship, confident client facing and interpersonal skills;

- Understanding of object relational databases and UNIX administration;

- Proficient in the use of SQL.

- Proficient in the use of JAVA and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

*** Desirable Skills Required***

- Ability to quickly diagnose complex issues and resolve these with minimal support;

- Ability to proactively identify risks & issues, and develop appropriate mitigation plans;

- Experience of working with configuration control tools;

- Knowledge of appropriate service management methodologies (ITIL);

- Experience in using Remedy or similar call logging systems;

*** Desirable Technical Skills***

- Powerbuilder Development

- Java Development (v1.6, v1.7)

- Eclipse

- Ability to pick up business process knowledge
