Reporting to the IT Team Leader, the Sr. Linux IT Specialist position will play a vital role in contributing and innovating to the global HPC and Digital Platform team. The position is based in the NALA data Center located in Houston.
This role requires a proven track record across a wide range of activities that are connected to an HPC environment. Your primary responsibilities will be to install and maintain computer systems aiming for the highest functionality. A successful IT Admin must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The ideal candidate will have great understanding of technology and will be able to implement various applications for both Opensource and commercial platforms to ensure maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
Rotating schedule for 7 x 24 hour On-call support
Availability for potential scheduled/unscheduled out of hours support
Install/configure Linux based hardware and all applicable software
Maintain/repair Linux based systems and associated equipment
Maintain backups of systems as defined in the backup schedule
Ticket system use for user support needs, repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedule
Teamwork and independent workloads for timely manner support related tasks
Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance.
Perform hardware/software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems
Change Control Review Board

Desired Qualifications and Experience
Educated to a Bachelor's degree level in any of the following disciplines (Desired): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related computing subjects
ITIL Foundation level certification (Desired)
1-5 years Extensive levels of Linux administration, preferably in an HPC environment
Desired Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Gitlab or an equivalent.
Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services.
Experience with Docker and container orchestration (Desired)
A familiarity of code and script (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl); shell scripting
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience in fast paced, high-volume production systems
Very good technical understanding and technical leadership qualities
Excellent communications, presentation, and customer service skills, and must have an outstanding track record of meeting customer expectations.
Knowledge of GPUs (Desired)
Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) and clustering technology (object storage, parallel file systems, RAID storage) (Desired)
Understanding of networks, RAID, and tape subsystems.
Experience in a high-volume critical production service environment
Virtualization knowledge and experience (Desired)
Must be detail oriented & work well in a team environment.
Must have legal right to live and work in the United State
