JOB DESCRIPTION

·  Promote and foster the development of a world-class safety culture.
·  Promote and maintain a positive work environment for all employees.
·  Track and maintain HSE statistics, including the publishing of such data for internal or external stakeholders.
·  Provide to management regular updates, reports and suggestions for improvement on operational EHS issues.
·  Advise management and supervisors on regulatory requirements for the control of hazards.
·  Provide guidance to Site Safety Coordinators and ensure they adhere to and implement the EHS program at their location.
·  Regularly communicate to staff on health and safety issues through meeting participation, emails, safety bulletins and worksite tours.
·  Educate and train employees in the area of Environmental protection and health and safety in the workplace.
·  Create buy-in from employees towards reporting of incidents and continually reinforce the hazard ID reporting message.
·  Aid in the completion of internal safety audits and to prepare the organization for external safety audits. Follow up on audit findings.
·  Assist managers, supervisors and health and safety committees with inspections.
·  Work with Human Resources to ensure employees participate in the disability management program if injured at work.
·  Coordinate and ensure Health & Safety Program orientation is provided to new employees as per the Corporate New Employee Orientation Program.
·  Provide other HSE training when required. This could include things like near miss reporting, emergency response training, or any other initiatives that may develop.
·  Know and apply the company’s safety policies and relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
·  Respond promptly to client requests for HSE program information, requests for proposals, and health and safety prequalification.
·  Investigate incidents fully and follow up to ensure incident reports are closed. 
·  Conduct ergonomic assessments, Physical Demands Analyses and industrial hygiene activities such as air sampling.     

 

PREFERRED SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS

·  Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities 
·  Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills 
·  Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT requirements. 
·  Experience in developing, managing and auditing H&S management systems 
·  Excellent problem solving abilities 
·  Strong interpersonal skills
·  Proficient in Internal auditing

 

REQUIREMENTS

·  Experience: 0-5 years in a safety professional role 
·  Education: OHS certificate or equivalent
