Java Developer (Platform)

Location; Rathbone Place, London (5 minutes from Tottenham Court Road)

The Honeycomb platform is the Internet of Things (IoT) platform that powers hive. Making use of cutting edge technology.

To support our continued growth and to help us evolve and enhance the platform's capabilities we are looking for bright, self-motivated, Java developers to join one of the platform's development teams and contribute to the success of our platform.

What will you be doing?

·  You'll develop high quality software and comply with the coding standards and best practice guidelines set by the team.
·  Be part of the development effort required to deliver all features agreed with Product Management on a sprint by sprint basis.
·  Participating in software design and estimation workshops based on iterative agile sprints.
·  Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the appropriate technologies, techniques and skills. Share this knowledge with the team through mentoring and pair programming

To be brilliant in this role you will have/be

·  Strong OO design and development experience using Java, and have worked in an Agile environment
·  Extensive experience using recognised design patterns
·  Strong test-driven development skills using both unit and acceptance/BDD test frameworks
·  Experience of working with continuous integration and continuous delivery
·  Experience with writing multi-threaded applications
·  Experience writing and using RESTful APIs
·  Experience with Spring, Hibernate
·  Experience with maven. Gradle is a plus
·  Familiar with developing in a linux environment
·  Familiar with git
·  Experience of large data systems e.g. SQL/NoSQL/distributed messaging systems (AMQP)
·  Knowledge/experience of cloud based solutions is a plus
·  Experience of microservices is a plus
·  Devops experience is a plus
·  Excellent skills and knowledge in the above areas, recognised as such and respected by peers
·  A passion to discover and learn new technologies
·  Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and be a team player with a can do, positive attitude
·  Persistent and thorough with a focus on delivering business value through high quality software
·  An interest in home automation and IoT

Base salary; £45,000 - £55,000
