Department purpose / objectives
Perform a lead role in the day to day trade and order surveillance and all related tasks including the development and embedding of controls, covering relevant regulatory requirements. This will require close interaction with the front office, IT and compliance personnel to review and assess alerts on trade and order surveillance systems as well as the review of the existing and testing and embedding on new controls prior to go-live.
Specific Responsibilities of Role:
Day to day execution of the BNP Paribas trade and order surveillance programme with particular focus on FX and FI related businesses
· Provide day-to-day assistance and support to the UK Surveillance Manager
· Review and evaluation of existing controls and proposed enhancements to systems and controls to mitigate any gaps identified
· Assist in preparing management information and reporting regarding surveillance and monitoring activities
· Assist in progress reporting of project related activities to the Project Office and Project related Committees as required
Core Activities Covered
Contribute to the implementation of Regulatory, Group and CIB standards against market abuse and breaches of Conduct of Business rules.
Ongoing performance of the Compliance department's surveillance and monitoring programme (coverage across Global Markets), including the review and resolution of alerts on Actimize for trade and order surveillance and Global Relay for Communications surve
illance.Assist in the enhancement of existing processes and develop new processes for identifying instances of Market Abuse and breaches to Conduct of Business and Exchange rules
Active participation in investigations into incidents arising from regular surveillance of electronic communications as well as responding to requests from the business lines
Proactive and timely escalation of issues (including those from investigations) with adequate supporting information to the Monitoring Manager
Assist in preparing management information and reporting regarding surveillance and monitoring activities
Update and drafting of policies and procedures as required
Ensure the use of workflow investigation tools
Compliance Advisory and Control
·Contribute to the relationship with local Regulators and Exchanges as required
Risk Prevention Tools
Contribute to the set up, implementation and operation of risk prevention tools, designed by Group and CIB C&C Functions, to the Métier environment
Contribute to the implementation within Territory environment of Regulatory, Group and CIB standards against money laundering, fraud, corruption, terrorism, etc.
Day to Day CIB Compliance Operations
Assist in the execution of the department's electronic surveillance programme
Assisting in investigation of, and response to, regulatory enquiries and internal investigations as directed by Compliance Management or the Monitoring Manager
— Work where necessary with colleagues in other jurisdictions to ensure consistency of approach and to promote knowledge sharing
— Contribute to the implementation of all relevant compliance monitoring-related Group / CIB policies and procedures locally in collaboration with the Regional Heads of Compliance / Heads of Compliance Territory and the Global Heads of Compliance
— Assisting in the management of the Compliance department's ongoing relationship with Métier and territory 2OPC teams and the Internal Audit function
— Direct contribution to BNPP operational permanent control framework
If necessary contribute to the organization of Compliance-related committees for the Métier or, where necessary, with colleagues from similar functions in other jurisdictions on a regular or ad-hoc basis
As directed by the Compliance Management Team or the Monitoring Manager, to contribute to UK, regional or global projects with a view to ensuring that they are delivered effectively and efficiently
Legal and Regulatory Responsibilities
Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the London Compliance manual and Compliance policies and procedures as issued from time to time; Financial Crime Prevention requirements, including, but not limited to, the prevention of Financial Crime and Fraud including reporting obligations to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.
Ideal candidate profile
Competencies required for the role:
FX and FI trading, Back Office / Ops or related fields ; AND
Extensive experience in Banking compliance, Risks or related fields;
Development , enhancement, testing and embedding of controls;
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification;
Relevant experience with FX and FI trading systems and tools
Understanding of Market Abuse and the regulation around it including the relevant control environments such as MAR and MiFID
Strong knowledge of Automated / HFT / Algorithmic trading
Strong IT skills particularly with trading platforms and database tools
Good analytical, investigation, and communication skills
Good interpersonal and presentation skills
Additional language skills preferred (major European, ideally French)
