Assistant Health and Safety Manager

The role

Responsible for assisting the Health and Safety Managers in the development and delivery of the health and safety management strategy within the Property Management Department.

Key deliverables

· Assist with the development of a safety management strategy aligned to current legislation, industry best practice, the operations of Property Management, and its obligations to Clients
· Assist with the development of practical risk management procedures and processes to effectively deliver Client strategies and KPI's
· Arrange the programme of site inspections and audits across all managed properties
· Provide guidance and advice on, and demonstrate leadership in, health and safety risk management to Clients and members of BNPPRE
· Develop and deliver health and safety related communications and chair/attend meetings
· Assist with closure of actions arising from site inspections and audits
· Prepare management reports for a variety of stakeholders including contributions to pitch documents
· Effectively manage delivery of agreed training programmes
· Collate the results of the inspection and audit programmes
· Collate accident, incident and near miss reports
· Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses in line with agreed severity protocols
· Review health and safety policies, procedures and processes to ensure currency

Person specification

Qualifications:

· Degree or equivalent
· Holder of Managing Safely qualification – accredited by IOSH
· Holder of National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health – accredited by NEBOSH (desirable)

Experience:

· Previous experience within a health and safety role
· Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the built environment generally, but specifically for buildings under management
· Experience and working knowledge of the commercial property sector
· Understanding of facilities management processes and systems
· Understanding of the business potential for health and safety in property management
· Management of supplier relationships at a junior level
· Excellent English language skills – both written and spoken
· IT literate – MS Office at intermediate level
· Familiar with implementation of health and safety systems and processes
