Job Description Summary

Bel Brands USA, manufacturers of world-renowned Laughing Cow Cheese and Mini Babybel Cheese, is seeking 3 Manufacturing Interns interested in the food manufacturing industry, eager to make an impact in a growing company. Interns will join our manufacturing leadership team to help drive our growth vision and achieve our company objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for a rewarding experience that will help grow each incumbent’s career through participating in hands-on manufacturing technology experiences, with direct impact to the business!

At Bel, you are in control of your own internship growth plan. Together with your mentor, you have flexibility in tailoring an internship program based on your work experience, area of study, personal interests and the needs of the business. The program will provide real world experience in your field of study and the opportunity to lead performance improvement initiatives at the manufacturing site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in day to day manufacturing practices and procedures
· Observe and analyze day to day practices and suggest/implement improvement methods
· Influence employees of all levels to adhere to performance improvement initiatives
· Assist with Lean Manufacturing efforts within the facility
· Participate in daily production meetings
· Participate and potentially lead daily pre-shift meetings
· Promote a fun and enjoyable work environment
· Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy
· Follows all Safety rules & procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others
· Follows all food safety procedures
· Follows all environmental protocols as applicable
· Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions
· Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum degree and experience:

· Undergraduate student or Graduate student in Agriculture (Dairy Science), Advanced Manufacturing/Manufacturing Engineering Technology or similar discipline, with a degree completion date between December 2017-June 2019
· 3.0 or above Cumulative GPA strongly preferred

· Quick learner with a can-do attitude; committed to providing quality results and eager to learn all aspects of the production process
· Manage multiple and competing priorities
· Ability to analyze data and/or documents
· Ability to think critically and analyze complex, cross-functional processes
· Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Good judgement concerning communications, influencing employees and influencing production
· Actively listen, comprehend and interact with employees at all levels of the organization
· Ability to apply long term strategy ambitions to day to day tasks
· Highly knowledgeable in how to use Microsoft Office products
· Ability to climb ladders

Additional Requirements :

· Must be available for a 12 week internship program at our Leitchfield, KY facility beginning in May/June 2017
· Must be reliable
· Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of a 24 hour operation facility
· Able to work in a facility where milk products are present
· Sponsorship for work visas not available

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in wet, humid conditions, and in proximity to cleaning chemicals, fumes, and air-born particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals, and sources of vibration. Employee is required to frequently stand and walk through the plant. There will be infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and will likely be required to climb ladders.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Protective Equipment: Employees must wear personal protective equipment as required which could include a hair and beard net, rubber boots, and ear protection.
