Description:
This role supports Product Design and Development activities for both new and sustaining programs within the Baxter Advanced Surgery product portfolio. This position will work closely with other engineers, scientists, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and regulatory staff to assure projects are delivered by means of technically strong, high quality and cost effective development processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of medical devices and combination products forming part of the product pipeline.
- Manage and execute technical aspects of early stage research and development projects including planning, organizing and overseeing testing and trials.
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to determine device requirements and supervise design, testing, and manufacturing of devices and combination products.
- Provide technical and scientific input in the evaluation and selection of appropriate device technologies.
- Generate ideas for new products and research feasibility in terms of need, value, technology and competitive assessment.
- Development of creative solutions to design problems while meeting schedule and product release plans.
- Develop test methods, test fixturing, and parameters for assessing device performance.
- Analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from materials evaluation and analysis.
- Help maintain existing products by solving technical problems and providing product improvements
- plan and implement resolutions to technical problems/issues.
- Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
- Implements changes and follows-up to assure their effectiveness.
- Should be able to work with minimum supervision.
- Should be able to work with multiple projects and handle multiple tasks the same time.
- Should be able to work on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Biomedical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Individual should have a fundamental understanding of biomaterials, chemical processes, biological systems, and analytical methodology.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and spoken.
- Strong cultural mindset – courage, collaboration, speed, simplicity.
