Sr. Laboratory Assistant (2102819) – San Diego, CA
BASF is looking to hire a Sr. Laboratory Associate to support our dynamic Enzyme Technologies R&D team.
The position will support enzyme discovery and screening efforts by working with the research teams to prepare, maintain, and organize critical biological components, strain libraries, and chemical reagents.
In addition to these responsibilities, this individual will play a central role in supporting bioresource management efforts including the organization, archival, and retrieval of internal collections of microbial strains and DNA and enzyme samples. Other activities include providing molecular biology support to project team members.
As a Sr. Lab Assistant, you will work out of our BASF Enzymes site in San Diego, CA.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
2-year degree in a scientific field required.
1 year of experience in a laboratory environment required.
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred.
Hands on experience using aseptic technique in handling and culturing of microorganisms.
Proficiency and understanding in techniques for microbial inoculation into liquid media and streaking onto solid media.
Familiarity and hands on experience with the manipulation of nucleic acids, including DNA extraction and purification, gel electrophoresis, PCR.
Experience preparing sterile media and chemical solutions.
Proficiency in molecular cloning and sub-cloning methods
Experience making yeast and bacterial competent cells.
Ability and interest in the operation of specialized laboratory equipment including liquid handlers and lab automation devices.
Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
Organized individual with attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize various projects and workflows.
Solid written and verbal presentation skills, with ability to effectively use MS Office Suite.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive, or other Cloud-based data sharing systems.
Experience with inventory management.
