Process Development Chemist (2000538) – Huntsville, AL

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for developing a viable manufacturing process for catalysts formulated by Design R&D that meet customer specifications, can be mass produced in existing global production sites, and fulfill stringent customer specifications and quality standards. This includes carrying out technology transfers of prototype production and scaling up at the selected sites. In contrast, existing unit operations are adapted, or new ones developed to ensure the commercialization of new products. In this role, you will participate in global, cross-team projects within the research community, as well as with sales, application technology, production, and quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your solid planning skills to define schedules/priorities for multiple assignments under limited supervision and persuade others when interacting with peers, customers, and management.  Additionally, this role will allow you to share any experience you may have in catalyst scale-up and manufacturing processes and familiarity with slurry processing and coating.

Formula for Success
Your knowledge of laboratory and engineering experience will be useful in the scale-up of safe chemical procedures for the development of new products.Leveraging your education in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and catalysis research or development experience (preferably in catalyst scale-up, manufacturing process development, or development of heterogeneous catalysts), you will identify, develop, document, and help implement new or improved catalyst manufacturing processes for local and global auto-emission catalyst production facilities.Recognizing the commercial impact of your work to make recommendations for other applications (e.g., continual improvement opportunities, corrective actions), you will provide process expertise to department customers and process development peers.Successfully engaging across the organization, you will participate in regional and global project teams to lead or support new product development.  You will take the lead role in developing processes required for transferring laboratory scale recipes to production.Demonstrating your experience with design, execution, and documentation of research projects and resource management, you will review and interpret results to define and perform follow-up studies to meet project goals with R&D counterparts.Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will serve you well as you prepare oral presentations and written reports to communicate project status and results.Working as a subject matter expert, you will support local manufacturing troubleshooting on demand.Relying on your sound judgment and acting as a role model for the manufacturing community, you will routinely demonstrate your high-level awareness of process and environmental safety.
