Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position is responsible for safely managing laboratory functions, including chemical and physical testing, certifications and training programs according to company quality standards.

This position will lead a team of quality laboratory professionals to provide optimal technical solutions to the Regina site.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Gain an understanding of the BASF compliance requirements and maintain the Laboratory Safety & Environmental regulations and procedures with this directive Lead and develop laboratory employees in meeting and exceeding organizational objectives in support of a high performance team with a emphasis on lab safety culture (creates a zero incident mindset) Supervise all coordination related to testing operations for the physical and chemical assessment of components, in-process materials and finished goods in a manner to ensure that these operations are reliable, accurate and timely. Develop and implement a training matrix for lab personnel and ensure employees are trained and competent in lab procedures Keep current with new technology development and propose instrumentation that will improve productivity and efficiency Partner with key stakeholders at the Regina site to understand business needs and provide the appropriate technical solutions Present to key stakeholders proposals and implementation of solutions sometimes requiring innovation in methodology Oversee the proper maintenance checks of all laboratory instruments to ensure optimum performance Lead investigations related to product non conformances to ensure true root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented

Qualifications

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Chemistry or a related discipline

·        Minimum 5 years of experience in an analytical laboratory

·        Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to lead a team

·        In depth knowledge of analytical instrumentation and chemistry; including HPLC-MS, HPLC, GC, & IR

·        Lab experience must be broad based including chromatography, spectroscopy and wet chemical technique

·        Experience in microbiological analysis is an asset

·        Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

·        Knowledge of continual improvement programs such as Lean/Six Sigma/5S is an asset

·        Knowledge in LIMS (Laboratory Management Information System), SAP

·        Knowledge of Contamination Prevention practices in manufacturing of crop protection products (CropLife) is an asset

·        Strong written and oral communication skills

·        Strong organizational skills

·        Must be available to work shift work (if required) based on production requirements and be on call for lab issues
