Joint Venture (JV) Accounting Analyst (2100245) – Port Arthur, TX
Where the Chemistry Happens
As a JV Accounting Analyst, you will provide accounting and finance guidance for leadership at BASF’s manufacturing locations as well as provide analysis to the Joint Venture (JV) partner. You will create and provide financial transparency for the Leadership Team to execute decisions impacting the site. You are a trusted advisor capable of providing financial and accounting guidance and solutions, as well as translating the operational activities at the site into financial results. You will interact with the business team with your knowledge of how your sites contribute to the success of the business. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your ability to apply technical knowledge to facilitate effective decision-making in either a static or changing environment. You will also exhibit your ability to learn quickly and adjust to new standards and technologies. Lastly, you will showcase your talents in using formal and informal channels to drive solutions.
The position is based in Port Arthur, TX in an off-site office location supporting the Port Arthur petrochemical production facility. The position reports to the Site Accounting Manager and reports organizationally to the Petrochemical business unit (CPN). The business unit personnel are located in Houston, TX. The position will interact often with employees from the JV partner.

Formula for Success
Working well as a team player and applying tactical skills, you will serve as a key member of the site leadership teams, providing strategic financial direction and support to the Site Director, Site Manager, and other site functions therein. Your advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities will be essential as you create and maintain cost transparency by providing analyses with timely and accurate reporting for decision making to the Site Leadership Team and business stakeholders. Leveraging your education (preferably in Accounting or Finance) and your experience in site financing, business/corporate accounting, or auditing, you will represent the interests and needs of the Industrial Petrochemicals (CP) business on the financial performance at the two sites. Your knowledge of management accounting and inventory control methods and BASF Systems (e.g., SAP, COBUS, OCEAN) will be a valued asset as you leverage the BSA service platform to provide maximum support and expertise in transactional and SAP system related areas. Demonstrating your solid business acumen, you will direct the sites’ operating plan and forecast cycles, perform month end closing responsibilities, and provide core financial and cost accounting solutions for both sites. Additionally, you will use these skills to lead each site in monthly production reviews with business stakeholders and site personnel. Using your skills in the interpretation and understanding of the site business/operational environment, you will guide the processes by which the site determines its financial contribution through transparency of cost, understanding of operating margins, and supporting opportunities for continuous improvement. You will also provide needed support on inventory controls and serve as the finance contact for external site reporting and audit requests. Focused on continuous improvement, you will ensure the sites operate with clear visibility of their cost structures and seek strategies to drive simplicity and reduce complexity.
