Agricultural Biologist – Plant Pathology (2002032) – Research Triangle Park, NC

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to become a part of our Biology R&D - Fungicide Development greenhouse and laboratory team. As an Agricultural Biologist in Plant Pathology, you will provide technical support for fungicide research. You will work with other members of the Fungicide and Biology group to characterize the biological activity of crop protection materials for disease control, plant growth and development. You will also assume responsibility for all daily activities required to successfully conduct assigned studies.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your experience working with photo editing software and above average skills in photography.  Previous experience conducting greenhouse, laboratory and field trials in a research environment with fungal pathogens and row and specialty crops is highly desirable. 

This role requires that you are willing and able to safely handle agricultural chemicals, as well as obtain a NC Pesticide License.

Formula for Success

·  Working under moderate supervision, you will propagate and maintain greenhouse plants.
·  Applying your proficiency in the fundamental aspects of experimental design and data analysis, you will treat plants, seeds or soil with experimental and registered crop protection materials, most commonly fungicides.
·  Leveraging your education in Agricultural Science (ex: Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agronomy or Related Field) and your demonstrated experience and ability to work within laboratory, greenhouse and/or agricultural field environments, you will conduct laboratory experiments using basic microbiological techniques, aseptic methods, media preparation, fungal isolation and culture maintenance, microscopy and learn to operate specialized lab equipment.
·  Your computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be essential as you collect and enter data in various computer applications. 
·  Your strong written and verbal communication skills will serve you well as you prepare written formal reports that summarize experimental procedures and results, with occasional oral presentations. Working as a member of a multidisciplinary research team with solid leadership skills, you will supervise temporary employees or interns.
