The Investment Bank (IB) Chief Technology Office (CTO) sets the technology standards and processes, and governs the technical architecture for IB Information Technology. The IB CTO team runs the IB Architecture board which challenges design proposals and ensures we are moving toward our target architecture. We leverage Communities of Practice (CoP) to help inform our decisions and use CoP's as a forum in which to debate key topics. The IB CTO team leads the implementation of Agile and DevOps within IB IT.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Barclays embarked on our agile journey at the start of 2012 and the investment banking division of Barclays is at the forefront of this journey. IB leaders have committed to an agility mission of “Accelerate Front to Back Engagement and Delivery” with the goal of reducing lead times and increasing productivity across the IT organization - using the full range of agile and devops toolkits. IB are looking for an experienced enterprise agile coach who will support the next stage of the transformation in Pune location.

Key Responsibilities & Approximate time split (%)

Coaching (70%)

o Coaching IB leaders in Pune in defining their transformation goals

o Coaching executives leading agile activities to empower not control

o Identify exemplar teams and assess their readiness for transformation

o Coaching product owners in coming up with product vision, release plans and release burnups

o Help teams and leaders to visualize their work and to establish Lead Time metrics

o Create improvement boards and ways of prioritizing improvements and measuring progress

o SME in the Barclays Agile Change Lifecycle (BACL) and Barclays Agile Operating Model

o SME in Barclays standard definitions and measurement approach for Lead Time

o SME in Barclays DevOps and Test automation strategies – incl tooling and cultural changes

o Support the transition of new and existing teams to an agile way of working

o Coaching architects to provide sufficient architectural direction

o Identify and coach emerging agile talent

Community Leadership (20%)

o Contributor to the Barclays group wide Agile Community of Practice (CoP)

o Contributor to the Barclays group wide DevOps Community of Practice (CoP)

o Lead, plan and facilitate useful & engaging Agile & DevOps events for IB staff in Pune

o Establish & lead IB Agile Coach / Scrum Master / DevOps champion networks in Pune

o Personally coach leaders / executives / peer coaches / team members 1-on-1 and help them get clarity on their thoughts / goals / feelings. Thus unblocking them and help them learn

Agile Training (10%)

o Contribute to creation of IB agile & DevOps training IP

o Deliver training & train the trainers to enable others to deliver training

Requirements

An agile coach must be passionate about communication, group dynamics and coaching and must not be afraid to raise issues and drive change to remove impediments from teams. An agile coach must have an insatiable appetite for learning new things and improving existing ones. Sometimes the learning will be about oneself and not others. Coach must be self-aware and be open to coaching too. Ideally the coach should be:

· Someone who appreciates the depths of agile practices and principles and can help teams appreciate them, too
· Someone who has faced the big dragons, organizational impediments, and has become a coach to managers and outsiders in the course of addressing them
· Someone who can help management & leaders at all levels of the organization to understand the benefits of working agile
· Someone who has brought the ideas from professional facilitation, coaching, conflict management, meditation, theatre, and more, to help the team become a high-performance team – the way you always imagined a high-performance team could be when you allowed yourself to dream
· It is common for the coach to have regular coaching sessions with the individual team members, including Product Owners, leaders, to help them on their Lean/Agile journey, something that often goes on for a long time. By spending a lot of time with the teams we hope to grow a continuous improvement culture and to act as catalysts to speed up the team's development into a high performing team.

Mandatory Requirements

· Should have strong presence and self-awareness
· Formally learned and practiced executive coaching for more than 3 years
· Strong understanding and ability to articulate the business value of specific agile practices.
· Able to swiftly move between coaching, consulting and mentoring roles
· Must have been part of multiple (5+) coaching engagements with mature and novice teams.
· Strong facilitation and diplomatic skills with the ability to read an organization and bring the right people into the team at the right time to get impediments resolved.
· Experience of applying agile frameworks like DAD, Kanban, Lean, LeSS, SAFe and Scrum, at an enterprise scale
· Played multiple roles on an Agile team with strong Scrum Master skills
· Excellent listening and communication skills
· Confident trainer and public speaker
· Prolific sharer of knowledge and understanding
· Ability to identify and remove impediments

Technical Requirements

· Hands on experience of the full development lifecycle including technical excellence practices such as: code review, test automation,code quality measurement, continuous release

· Familiarity with technologies including or equivalent to a level enabling them to create and deliver technical training covering:

o One or more testing automation frameworks e.g. BDD, Cucumber, Java

o DevOps tooling e.g. JIRA, BitBucket, TeamCity, SonarQube, Nexus, Nolio

Desired Requirements

· Executive / personal coaching certification
· Agile / coaching certification (CSP or equivalent)
· Experience of distributed agile
· Experience of performing agile team roles
· Experience in Banking / Financial services
· Experience of working in an enterprise agile adoption / transformation team
