Role Purpose

· The Application Support and Service Management (ASSM) team within PCB directly support more than 300 services supporting Retail, Corporate and Wealth Operations and Customers, and maintain management oversight and accountability for their supporting internal and external technology services. The services are a mix of criticality A, B, C and D.

· This role is for a support analyst within the Payments and Settlements team who will help in ensuring stability of the platform and ensure compliance with risk initiatives / resilience activities. The role holder will work on a subset of Wealth applications.

Key Accountabilities

Delivery of application support functions incorporating the ownership, analysis and resolution of Service Incidents and problems. Participate in additional activities related to the applications under support such as Business Continuity Testing , Change Management and Risk events

The role holder must ensure all live applications are fully supported and meet the SLA requirements of service area. Effectively provide Service Acceptance measurement and sign off for area of responsibility. Manage & deliver 1 st /2nd line applications support whether direct, sourced internally or 3rd party hosted

Work with the wider Technology group to ensure adaptation of services meet the changing needs of the business, with identification of and implementation of continual improvements to the service through, for example, incident root cause analysis, trend analysis and procedure reviews

Work with Application Support Analysts, Application Service Managers, Major Incident Handling and other internal and external parties to support and adapt the service offering to meet the changing needs of the business. Effectively manage and deliver the live service to agreed service levels. Apply ITIL best practice principles across the service area.

Service Level Agreement (SLA): Maintain system availability to SLA, analyse and resolve application/system related operational issues via formal communications and procedures. Ensure key application functions and scheduled activities are completed in a timely manner and within SLA.

Business As Usual (BAU) : Maintain all formal controls, documents and records to auditable levels and in compliance with current Barclays Wealth Technology Application Support operation procedures and documentation standards. Work with Application Service Managers to understand business requirements. Identify service enhancements and help drive service improvement initiatives to deliver programs as well as provide 24x7 support as part of shift and on-call rotas.

Person Specification

Your Skills and Qualifications

The candidate will possess relevant experience and a proven track record in an application support role, preferably within the financial services industry. Experienced in supporting applications in a global environment and familiar with ITIL concepts and best practices. Preferably experienced in supporting applications in a major investment bank, with a strong knowledge of ITIL-based processes and best practices.

An understanding of ITIL methodologies is required, with an ability to investigate, analyse and resolve application issues. The candidate must be comfortable working alongside 2nd Line Infrastructure teams and 3rd party vendors as part of the day to day Service Support activities. The Candidate must have strong analytical and investigation skills with an ability to resolve issues in a high-pressure & time critical environment.

The candidate will also need to have a proven track record of service delivery in a complex IT environment and will have an in-depth understanding of applications supported by Applications Support functions in general. Exposure and / or practical knowledge and experience of in a Wealth/Asset Management or Investment Mgmt environment is advantageous but not essential.

Proven experience of data analysis in an enterprise environment

A high level of operational understanding of enterprise level systems

Skilled and experienced in the system monitoring techniques.

Experience of software lifecycles (Agile an advantage)
