Systems Engineer
Would you like to play a key role within the design and development for land and naval radar for the UK and abroad? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at our site in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be carrying out a variety of systems analysis tasks surrounding digital signal processing (DSP), as well as other systems activities relating to the design, development and continuous improvement of the Artisan radar.
This role will provide you with the chance to deal with every aspect of the radar design and function, with varied day-to-day activities. This role will also give you the opportunity to develop your skills within a niche area of defence technology.
Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:
The analysis of signal processing elements related to radar or underwater system design
Designing and developing signal processing algorithms and sub systems, typically related to Radar systems or underwater systems (including Torpedoes)
Model development on Matlab to support signal processing schemes
Simulating signal processing schemes to assess algorithm design
System requirement analysis and derivation
Working closely with engineers from other disciplines to solve problems, particularly during the design and integration phases
The verification of algorithm designs and sub-systems using a combination of simulation, analysis and test techniques
Your skills and qualifications as a Systems Engineer :
Essential:
Degree within Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline, ideally Mathematics or Physics (or equivalent qualification or experience)
Knowledge or experience of modelling and algorithms
Knowledge or experience of signal processing
Desirable:
Experience using tools for algorithm development such as Matlab
Knowledge of maritime industry or radar technology
