Survivability Engineer
Would you like to play a key role ensuring the survivability of a range of armoured vehicles for the UK MoD? We currently have a vacancy for a Survivability Engineer at our site in Telford.
As a Survivability Engineer, you will be working within a small team of multi-skilled engineers and specialists, helping to develop, test, field and support survivability solutions. In response to both internal and external customer requirements, you will assess and analyse options to provide leading edge engineering solutions appropriate for deployment on a range of platforms.
This role will provide you with the chance to work across a range of engineering disciplines, with industry-leading experts to provide innovative solutions. You will have the opportunity to broaden your engineering skills and work with complex military platforms.
Your main responsibilities as a Survivability Engineer will involve:
Undertaking survivability assessments and developing solutions to meet customer requirements involving: survivability balancing, vulnerability/threat analysis, ballistic calculation and analysis, blast assessment etc.
Evaluation of the latest survivability technologies
Generating mechanical design specifications, solutions and technical data packs
Conducting survivability trials and testing activities in key areas such as blast, ballistics and the wider survivability field, including the development of trials hardware, plans and reports
Supporting in-service platforms through development and integration of system and sub-system upgrades and generation of repair schemes
Helping to develop the Land (UK) survivability capability by conducting internal private venture development programmes, liaising with academia, technology suppliers and subject matter experts both within the UK MoD and the wider survivability community
Your skills and qualifications as a Survivability Engineer :
Essential:
Engineering background with experience in a number of the following areas: platform survivability, survivability balancing/optimisation, ballistic and blast protection, mechanical design, material evaluation and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within a relevant engineering discipline
Desirable:
Shock and dynamics modelling experience
Land military platform domain experience
Defensive Aids Suite experience
Experience within a complex engineering environment such as: defence, automotive, aerospace, nuclear, etc .

Finally, you must have the confidence to work outside of your comfort zone, learning and developing new skills to ensure that you can always provide the best possible solution.
