Procurement Professional

Would you like to play a highly varied role working in a busy environment in Submarine Solutions? We currently have a vacancy for a Procurement Professional at our site in Barrow.

As a Procurement Professional, you will be responsible for supporting procurement activities within integrated project teams for the delivery of multiple cross-functional engagements. This role includes the development of procurement strategies and plans, supplier performance management and contract management initiatives.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to take part in making a positive difference on the whole boat programme as this role will be at the forefront of this development.

Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Professional will involve:

Manage own contracts in accordance with all the Supply Chain processes and procedures.

Maintain the required levels of reporting associated with:

a) Progress manufacturing phases

b) Cost management

c) Spend management

d) Supplier Performance (SPR)

e) Schedule delivery performance

Maintenance and creation of RFQs and Purchase Orders in SAP

Maintenance and creation of Team Center chronicles and workflows

Be accountable for all related Supply Chain activity in line with area of responsibility in support of the Supply Chain Functional Plan at BAE Systems (Barrow).

Procure required items in line with business objectives, with effective contract management throughout.

Manage risk and opportunities throughout the life of your contracts

Your skills and qualifications:

Purchasing skills such as: RFQ- Purchase Order, Expediting, Manage Deliveries

Previous experience of interpreting Supplier performance metrics and to work with suppliers to address performance shortfalls.

Have good problem solving capabilities within a highly regulated industry

A good knowledge of financial aspects of the role and understanding what actions need to be taken if performance in these areas is not meeting the desired standard.

Run Contract Management Reviews with Suppliers and take appropriate actions.

Familiarisation with SAP and Team Center (Desirable)

Ability to plan resources and re-act to the changing demands through the life cycle of the various projects. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels to a variety of stakeholders. The successful must have strong negotiation skills.

Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
