Principal Engineer – Technology (TDP’s)
Would you like to play key engineering role within the technology sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer – Technology (TDP’s) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Principal Engineer – Technology (TDP’s), you will be responsible for leading Technology Demonstrator Programmes (TDPs). You will be responsible for identifying and progressing new ones with the objective of benefiting the submarine platform programme, this could be within the design or build phase.
This role will provide you with a great opportunity to work on new and exciting projects, with the chance or career progression.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer – Technology (TDP’s) will involve:
Working with the Technology Management team and the wider stakeholder community to identify areas where a technology solution would benefit the submarine platform programme
Producing statements of work to support designs and manufacture contracts
Applying engineering knowledge to identify and apply appropriate technologies
Project leading TDPs as appropriate
Developing statements of work to support designs and manufacture contracts
Carrying out engineering feasibility studies and benefits analyses
Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer – Technology (TDP’s):
Degree in a qualified engineering sector or equivalent experience
Awareness of commercial and/or procurement practices for contract placement and supplier down-selection processes
Demonstrable experience in key stakeholder management

You will be a methodical thinker, with a natural ability for problem-solving and have a keen interest in robotics. You will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Maritime – Submarines
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
