Principal Engineer - Technical Training & Support

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of training and support across a range of engineering and enterprise toolsets? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Technical Training & Support at our site in Frimley, Surrey.

As a Principal Engineer - Technical Training & Support, you will be responsible for establishing best practice of our toolsets and managing the toolset training needs of the Submarines Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) part of our business. This will include designing training materials, as well as delivering face-to-face and e-learning sessions in the use of our Enterprise toolsets.

This role will provide you with a wide exposure to different stakeholders across the business, including non-engineering functions. You will also have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a range of enterprise toolsets.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Technical Training & Support will involve:

Providing in-depth Enterprise Toolset subject matter expertise from a lifecycle management end-to-end perspective

Managing and delivering training for engineering toolsets (including DOORS, SAP and Teamcenter) across CS&S

Developing course content, managing methods of delivery, and providing instructor-led courses, both face-to-face and through e-learning

Acting as SME in the engineering toolsets and providing expertise to business transformation

Deputising for colleagues by supporting training development and delivery for other enterprise toolsets, where required

Occasional travel to other sites within the UK to deliver training courses

Identifying improvements to user processes and toolsets observing lean principles

Solving functional issues with enterprise toolsets and identifying procedural or corrective solutions, as required, to drive and endorse best practice

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer - Technical Training & Support:

Essential:

Good working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle from requirements to delivery

Capable of, and willing to teach training courses in the use of Enterprise toolsets to a range of users within the business

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint and Excel)

Desirable:

Knowledge of drawing tools such as Microsoft Visio

Previous experience in a training delivery role

Knowledge of enterprise toolsets such as DOORS, SAP or Teamcenter

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
