Principal Cost Engineer

Would you like to be part of a Commercial project team within a large, diverse and busy organisation? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Cost Engineer at our site in Frimley.

As a Principal Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for looking at the cost of the products, assessing them for value for money, risk and associated costs.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a high technology area which is very challenging and has interesting areas of work. You will be part of high level analysis working on the integration of major complex systems.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Cost Engineer will involve:

Preparing and agreeing (both internal and external) costed commercial proposals

Carrying out pricing forecasts and analysis

Managing the Cost Engineering inputs for the lifecycle management (LCM) and tender vetting processes

Managing the application of accounting procedures within cost engineering

Delivering cost engineering support to all functions

Adopting clear understandings with suppliers, both technical and commercial to ensure the business arrangements contain minimum risk

Providing advice to the cost engineers and the business on estimating/pricing/contract terms/inflation and variation of price issues as they relate to bidding and performing contracts

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Cost Engineer:

Educated to HNC Level or higher or equivalent in a technical/operational skill set or appropriate relevant experience

Demonstrable experience in cost estimating

Forecasting and analysis experience

A technical understanding /awareness of complex electronic systems

Previous estimating experience gained within in engineering or manufacturing shop floor environment

Knowledge of Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCR) and AAR Criteria would be advantageous

Salary: £45 000 Commensurate with experience
