Project Planner

Would you like the opportunity to work on interesting and dynamic projects, influencing the future development of Project Planning & Control? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Planner at our site in Frimley, Weymouth, Portsmouth or Bristol.

As a Project Planner, you will be part of the central and independent Project Planning & Control team for Complex Systems and Support. The role will support and lead projects in the development and maintenance of project schedules in accordance to planning standards, ensuring consistency across the Complex Systems and Support business area. Training and development are provided.

This is a growing part of the organisation; it is a great opportunity to be part of the Complex Systems and Support area of Maritime Submarines, which designs, builds, integrates and supports all the Submarine Combat Systems in the UK fleet.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Planner will involve:

Supporting the project managers in creation, development and execution of plans and Earned Value Management

Identifying and implementing plans/actions to address weaknesses, shortfalls, issues from all the applicable control processes

Liaising with all stakeholders in respect of integrated work schedules, change impacts and facilitating meetings, both internal and external when required

Producing cost performance reports and variance analysis in order that project performance is understood and action taken as required

Providing insight and analysis on project performance using schedule and cost performance indicators (SPI/CPI) and cost performance reports

Maintaining on behalf of the project team the performance measurement baseline of the project

Your skills and qualifications:

Microsoft Project/Primavera P6/SAP desirable but not essential

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Understanding of project planning and control disciplines requirements and practices including Earned Value Management

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
