Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Systems)

Would you like to play a key role in support of military armoured vehicle modification activities? We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Systems) at our site in Telford.

As a Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Systems), you will be part of the In Service Support (ISS) team who deal with post design services across a range of armoured fighting vehicles, such as the Challenger II, Titan, Trojan and Warrior platforms. More specifically you will be part of the Mobility Team, supporting upgrades and modifications covering mechanical aspects of these vehicles (such as engine, transmission, drivelines and running gear etc.).

This role will provide you with a very broad range of day-to-day activities, with the chance to gain knowledge of a whole array of different mechanical systems and state-of-the-art military vehicles.

Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Systems) will involve:

Requirements management and production of technical specifications

Management of all technical issues with customers and suppliers

System design and integration into vehicle platforms

Acceptance and verification testing of systems

Working with Design Engineers (CAD) to create information for the solution of design problems and definition of manufacturing information

Undertaking and/or assisting with technical presentations

The generation and review of technical reports

Your skills and qualifications as a Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Systems):

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within an engineering discipline

Demonstrable experience in a mechanical engineering role

Experience gained from industries such as: automotive/ aerospace / military

You will have the ability to work well both within a team and autonomously. You must also possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work successfully with a range of stakeholders.

Location: Telford, Shropshire

Salary: £40-45,000 DOE
