Maintenance Engineer

Would you like to build on your existing engineering experience and work on the Royal Navy's newest warships? We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Maintenance Engineer you will be working as part of a Maintenance Management team devising maintenance plans and providing through-life support for the new Queen Elizabeth carrier or other latest generation vessels.

This role offers you the opportunity to join new projects and gain good long term career progression within the organisation.

Your main responsibilities as a Maintenance Engineer will involve:

Producing maintenance work-packages for allocated platforms from the Maintenance Management System, ships staff feedback and material state knowledge

Identifying and reporting on maintenance costs and defect trends with own sphere of influence, based upon basic analysis and applied common sense to optimise future maintenance activities (learning from experience)

Updating material state records for designated platform / systems, monitoring data inputs and feedback and recording

Ensuring work packages have sufficient technical content to allow delivery teams to plan and estimate

Drafting technical queries within maintenance scope for the class or designated platform / systems

Supporting the planning and coordination of test and trials

Identify and reporting on maintenance data that is outdated, poor or inconsistent

Your skills and qualifications:

HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline

Working knowledge and experience of Maintenance Engineering in a maritime environment or other complex engineering business (Defence, Rail, Aerospace, Vehicles, etc.)

UMMS database experience – Desirable

Knowledge of RCM and ILS principals - Desirable
