Equipment Electrical/Electronic/EMC Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical/ Electronics Engineer to join BAE Systems at either of our Frimley, Weymouth or Broad Oak sites. The successful engineer will be offering design advice, assessing designs and formally accepting electrical and electronic equipment and assemblies. This may include guidance and support in the design to meet EMC. The team leads the design of hardware such as system enclosures, racks, and cabinets, and their integration into the submarine and supports suppliers in the design of same.

This is an excellent opportunity to influence the design of critical pieces of equipment, which will have a lasting impact on the capability of the Royal Navy for decades to come.

As a Principal Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:

Providing technical oversight of design activities for electrical, electronic equipment such as consoles, enclosures and cabinets.

Managing the requirements flow for hardware design through to internal and external suppliers.

Carrying out acceptance activities for products submitted by supplier organisations.

Leading the qualification, test, and requirements management aspects of physical design, with a preference on EMC.

Defining the qualification obligations for the assurance hold points during build, test and commissioning.

Identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities

Mentoring and assisting more junior members of the team in the execution of their duties

As a Principal Engineer your skills and qualifications must include:

Design engineering experience

Background within the defence industry

Experience of integration of designs on to military platforms

Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Design

EMC design and qualification experience.

As Principal Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Experience arranging and supervising on non-functional testing performed by 3rd parties

Electrical Design assessment and experience

EMC Design Experience

Full engineering lifecycle experience from requirements through to delivery and acceptance

DOORS software experience

Maritime Submarines – Combat Systems
