Configuration Engineer – Under Water Surveillance

Would you like to work on one of the most complex engineering programmes undertaken by BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Configuration Engineer – Under Water Surveillance at one of our sites in Frimley, Weymouth or Portsmouth.

As a Configuration Engineer – Under Water Surveillance, you will work in the Under Water Systems (UWS) team, working closely with other internal systems engineering and design teams and be responsible for supporting them throughout the design lifecycle.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop professionally and progress within BAE Systems’ Submarines and the wider business.

Your main responsibilities as a Configuration Engineer – Under Water Surveillance will involve:

Supporting the management of bill of materials and parts for the under water systems team, including their functional and spatial maturity

Attending scheduled reviews of bill of materials and part status against sub-system contracts

Providing input into change processes, generating change requests, and assessing the impact of engineering changes

Analysing data for such things as validity and trends against technical requirements and specifications

Supporting under water systems design tasks, including design review actions and changes to documentation

Preparing various documents such as; drawings, sketches, system schematics and reports in support of detailed engineering proposals

Offering and implementing updates, additions and modifications of parts as and when required

Utilising computer systems such as Team centre to extract and update project data

Carrying out metric reporting such as the status of parts and bill of materials

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Evidence of technical background e.g. HNC/HND or equivalent

Experience or an understanding of systems engineering life cycle

Experience of engineering maintenance, design, or testing

Desirable

Knowledge of the maritime industry

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers.
